The four parallel mountain ranges in British Columbia are the Canadian Rockies, the Columbia Mountains, the Cascade Mountains and the Coast Mountains. Several of these larger ranges comprise groups of smaller mountain ranges.

The easternmost mountain range in British Columbia is the Rockies. These mountains essentially form the border between British Columbia and its neighboring province, Alberta. West of the Rockies are the Columbia Mountains, which can be further divided into four ranges: the Purcell, Selkirk, Monashee and Caribou Mountains. The Cascades in British Columbia are the northern tip of a range that extends into California. The Coast Mountains are the westernmost range in the province.
