Where do frilled lizards live?
By Forinfos - 14/05/2026 - 0 comments
The frilled lizard is native to Northern Australia and Southern New Guinea. They inhabit tropical and warm temperate forests, as well as woodlands. These lizards are arboreal, spending most of their lives in trees, only descending for food or to engage in territorial conflicts.
The arboreal habitat may have derived from the frilled lizard's diet of mostly arthropods and vertebrates, such as smaller lizards, but trees are mainly used for camouflage. The coloration of the frilled lizard is directly related to the region in which they live. Lizards in a damp, more tropical area will have dark brown and gray hues, while those in a dry environment tend to have orange, red and brown colors.
