What is a frisbee launcher?

Frisbee launchers are devices used when playing with dogs that allow owners to launch discs farther than they are typically able to be thrown. This provides more exercise for the dogs, which must run farther and faster to catch the Frisbees.

Though commercial Frisbee launchers are available, occasionally the design and construction of such a launcher is used as a science and technology design challenge for students. Sometimes the objective is simply to make the Frisbee airborne. Other times, there is a more specific goal, such as creating a practice device for Ultimate Frisbee players. This can be a class assignment, but it can also be used in team competitions.
