In law enforcement, "DCP" stands for Deputy Chief of Police or Deputy Commissioner of Police, depending on the location. The deputy chief of police is the second highest ranking officer in a police department and reports directly to the chief of police.
The deputy chief can assume the duties of the chief of police in his absence and perform related functions in that capacity. A deputy chief oversees the officers in his department and represents the police force to the community to promote the department's goals and to foster trust between the community and the police force. The deputy chief also acts as the chief of staff to the chief of police.
