What are funny cars?

Funny cars are so named because they have some quirky features, such as the fact that the entire body of the car has to move in order to let a driver get in or out. These drag racing cars typically have a standard metal chassis over which a carbon fiber or fiberglass body shell is fitted.

Most funny cars are totally custom made, but they are sometimes designed to look like a specific make and model of commercially available automobile, such as a Ford Mustang or Chevrolet Camaro. Usually, funny car makers will design their car to look as close to a current model year as possible.
