What galaxy are we in?

Every planet in the solar system and everyone on Earth are located in the Milky Way Galaxy. The Milky Way contains approximately 100 to 400 billion stars, one of which is the sun.

The Milky Way has a spiral shape and is about 100,000 light-years in diameter. It is constantly moving through space and rotates as it moves. At the center of the Milky Way is a massive black hole. In addition to stars and the black hole, the other main components of the galaxy include dust and gas, as well as a mysterious substance that scientists call "dark matter."
