The HBO television series "Game of Thrones" is based on the series "A Song of Ice and Fire" by George R.R. Martin. The series features five books, as of 2015, beginning with "A Game of Thrones."

The subsequent books are "A Clash of Kings," "A Storm of Swords," A Feast for Crows" and "A Dance With Dragons." Martin plans to publish two more books in the series. The sixth volume is entitled "The Winds of Winter" and the seventh is "A Dream of Spring." There are also several novellas set in the same world, including "The Tales of Dunk and Egg."
