What is a GE microwave recall?

From time to time, GE and other companies may issue recalls on their microwaves and other products due to a known manufacturing defect that could pose a safety issue. As of February 2015, GE's only active safety recall for microwaves is for built-in combination wall ovens.

The GE safety recall only applies to built-In combination wall ovens manufactured between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2003. This recall affects 92,032 units. The safety issue is a faulty door switch in the microwave portion that can overheat and ignite plastic components. GE is offering free repair or a rebate toward a new GE unit.
