What is the GEM electric car?

GEM electric cars are eco-friendly, battery-powered multipurpose vehicles that run 100 percent on electricity. They are manufactured by Polaris Industries and are part of the GEM line of electric vehicles that the company initially designed in 1998.

As of 2015, GEM electrics cars have become the market leader in the low-speed vehicle industry, with over 45,000 vehicles sold across the globe. Polaris Industries offers six models that comply with the U.S. federal safety requirements for LSVs. GEM vehicles can reach speeds up to 25 mph, and they are limited to roads with a speed limit of 35 mph or less. They use a 72-volt battery system that powers the custom controller and the electric drive motor.
