Where is Austria?

Austria is a landlocked country in Central Europe. It shares a border with eight other countries: Czech Republic, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Slovakia, Slovenia and Switzerland

Austria became an official republic for the first time in 1919 following a failed union with Germany. It was then occupied and annexed by Germany throughout World War II. The Allies occupied Germany when the war ended in 1945, and Austria was not re-established as a sovereign state until 1955. After regaining its sovereignty, Austria declared that it would remain permanently neutral. As of 2014, Austria is one of the richest countries in the world, with a population of 8,504,850 and a per capita GDP of $52,216.
