Where is Holland?

Holland, formally known as the Netherlands, is located in Western Europe. It is bordered by Belgium to the southwest and Germany to the east. The North Sea is located to the north and west of Belgium. England lies across the North Sea to the west.

Because of its location, Holland is known as the western entrance to Europe. Holland's major port city, Rotterdam, is the largest port in Europe. About 25 percent of the country is located below sea level. The country's total area is 16,039 square miles, and its population is close to 17 million. Amsterdam is the capital city, and Dutch is the official language.
