Some of the major landforms in Africa include the Kaapvaal craton and Cape Floral in South Africa, Atlas Mountains, Ethiopian Highlands, Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya, Sahara Desert, Congo River Basin, Nile River System and the Great Rift Valley. Africa is the second largest continent, in terms of size and population.
Africa shares its maritime borders with the Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Indian Ocean, Red Sea and Suez Canal. Aside from these bodies of water along the African coast, the continent encompasses the seven African Great Lakes, including Lake Victoria, which feeds the Nile River. Africa is also home to vast grasslands, the Sahel and numerous rainforests.
