In which state is Lake Tahoe?

Lake Tahoe lies along the border of California and Nevada, just east of the Sierra-Nevada Range and west of the Carson Range. Roughly two-thirds of the basin rests in California, while the remaining one-third is in Nevada.

Lake Tahoe is approximately 22 miles long and 12 miles wide, for a surface area of about 191 square miles. With a maximum depth of 1,645 feet, Lake Tahoe is the second deepest lake in the United States and the 10th deepest in the world. The surface of the lake is about 6,000 feet above sea level, with adjacent peaks rising to more than 10,000 feet. Lake Tahoe is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States.
