The Republic of Ghana is on the west coast of Africa between Ivory Coast and Togo. The country is bordered by Burkina Faso to the north and the Gulf of Guinea to the south.
Ghana occupies roughly 92,100 square miles, slightly less than the state of Oregon. The southern part of the country is dominated by coastal plains and sandy shores, with much of the central region occupied by heavily-wooded forests and savannas to the north. At the eastern border is Mount Afadjato, the country's highest point at 2,287 feet.
With a population of roughly 2.57 million, the capital and largest city, Accra, is on the southeastern coast.
