Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest point in Africa. From base to peak, the mountain rises at an elevation of approximately 19,340 feet.

Tanzania is located in the eastern section of Africa, and it is home to Mount Kilimanjaro. The nation, which sits between Kenya and Mozambique, is surrounded by the Indian Ocean. Mount Kilimanjaro forms the northern boundary that Tanzania shares with Kenya. The mountain houses three extinct volcanoes: Mawenzi, Shira and Kibo.

The summit is called Uhuru, which can be reached by initially taking the Machame Route. This stretch contains the diverse fauna that inhabit the area. Mountain climbers then proceed to the Shira plateau via the Grand Barranco gorge before arriving at Stella Point. Uhuru can be accessed by making a detour around the edge of Kibo.
