Rising 20,237 feet above sea level, Mt. McKinley is the highest point in North America, according to Live Science. It is part of the Alaska Range and the third- highest mountain in the world, surpassed only by Mt. Everest in Nepal and Mount Aconcagua in South America.

Everest is the highest point above sea level, which makes it the highest mountain in the world, but when measuring from the base of the mountain to its highest point, Mt. McKinley is 1,000 feet taller than Mt. Everest.
