Do giraffes live in the rainforest?

According to National Geographic, giraffes live on the African savannah, a type of grassland ecosystem, not in the rainforest. Giraffes use their height to forage for leaves and buds on tall trees. The 21-inch tongue of the giraffe assists in picking hard-to-reach foliage.
Giraffes spend most of their time eating, digesting hundreds of pounds of leaves every week. Although the giraffe's height is an advantage for reaching leaves and detecting predators, it is very awkward and dangerous for the animal to drink from a water hole. Fortunately, the giraffe only needs to drink every few days, as it attains most of its water from the vegetation it eats.
