To do a manicure, remove the old polish with nail polish remover, shape and groom your cuticles, apply a base coat followed by two thin coats of nail polish, and finish with a clear top coat. This process takes at least 20 minutes to complete.
- Clean the nails
Dip a piece of cotton in nail polish remover, and use it to remove any old polish and dirt.
- Shape your nails, and groom the cuticles
Using a nail clipper, trim your nails to even lengths, and file the edges with a nail file to make them smooth. Pour warm water in a bowl, and add a few drops of almond oil. Soak your fingers in the bowl for five minutes to soften the cuticles, and pat them dry. Moisten a piece of cotton, twist it onto the end of an orangewood stick, and use it to gently push back your cuticles. Soak a cotton ball in nail polish remover, and clean your nails to remove the almond oil.
- Apply nail polish
Apply a thin base coat to all the nails to protect them. Wait for two minutes, and apply a second coat of polish. Moisten cotton with polish remover, and wrap it around an orangewood stick. Use the stick to clean any errant nail polish. Finish with a clear top coat, and let the polish dry.
