The 2015 version of the GMC Yukon XL has a maximum towing capacity of between 6,000 to 6,300 pounds, depending on whether its a two-wheel or four-wheel drive type. A GMC Yukon XL fitted with the Heavy-Duty Tailoring Package is able to tow up to 2,000 additional pounds.

The 2016 version of the GMC Yukon XL is designed to incorporate a Hill Start Assist system, making it easier for drivers to switch between pedals without worrying about rolling. The GMC Yukon XL is fitted with the EcoTec3 V-8 engine that is able to generate up to 355 horsepower and 383 pounds per feet of torque.
