A good example of a static character is Cinderella's stepmother. A static character is a character in literature or drama who undergoes few changes throughout the duration of the story.
Another example of a static character is Fred from "A Christmas Carol." Fred was a happy, giving man at the beginning of the piece, and regardless of the antagonist's behavior, he is open and welcoming to him at the end of the story.
Static characters do not experience major internal changes. Most often, they are the same at the beginning of the story and at the end of the story. The opposite of a static character is a dynamic character.
