Lyric Press and Rhyme Now are well rated syllable checking apps, says AppCrawlr.com. Websites such as PoetrySoup.com and SyllableCount.com offer free online applications for syllable checking.
Both Lyric Press and Rhyme Now are available for under five dollars, as of 2015. Lyric Press is recommended for songwriters and musicians, while Rhyme Now is recommended for writers. Both have rhyming dictionaries and syllable counting built in.
PoetrySoup, aside from having a syllable checker, has poetry and poet information, a blog, articles on writing, a forum and more.
Syllable Count has haikus, syllable teaching resources, baby names sorted by syllable count and a rhyming dictionary.
