Warming the mineral oil or hydrogen peroxide mixture to body temperature makes the procedure more comfortable, says WebMD. After allowing the mixture to sit in the ear canal for several minutes with the head tilted, take a warm shower, gently directing the water into the ear to wash away any residual liquid and wax. Dry the ear thoroughly with a hairdryer on the lowest setting. Those who have grommets or a ruptured eardrum should not use this method.
