One good way to remove soap scum is to clean it with a solution made of borax, detergent and water. Create the mixture, place it on the problem area, let it sit, then rinse it off. You need a soft-bristle brush, a bowl, water and a cloth for this process.
- Create the mixture
Combine 1 cup of borax, 2 tablespoons of dishwashing liquid and 1 to 2 cups of water, which is just enough water to form a paste. The mixture should have a consistency that's similar to pancake batter.
- Place the paste on the affected area
Use a soft-bristle brush to apply the paste to the area containing the soap scum.
- Let the solution sit
Let the paste sit on the affected area for 15 minutes. Do not allow the paste to dry, as this can make it difficult to remove.
- Scrub the affected area
Use the soft-bristle brush to scrub the paste into the affected area until the soap scum is gone.
- Rinse the area
Use hot water to thoroughly rinse the paste and loosened soap scum off the surface.
- Wipe the area dry
Use a clean cloth to wipe the affected area dry and to remove any remaining soap scum or grime.
