Federal law entitles all consumers to annual credit reports from the three major national credit bureaus free of charge, according to USA.gov. AnnualCreditReport.com is the only source authorized to deliver these free reports by request. There is a fee for credit scores, which are calculated from credit reports.
Credit reports via AnnualCreditReport.com include reports from Equifax, Experian and TransUnion, notes USA.gov. To request a report from AnnualCreditReport.com, the user clicks on "Request Your Free Credit Reports" and then enters information to prove his identity. The site explains that these reports are only for U.S. credit and not applicable to users of foreign addresses.
