What is the Grand Canyon walkway?

The Grand Canyon walkway is a glass and steel extension that hovers over the rim of the Grand Canyon. The horseshoe-shaped structure has a glass floor and extends 70 feet from the edge of the canyon wall. It hovers 4,000 feet over the Colorado River.

Referred to as the Grand Canyon Skywalk, the walkway opened to the public in March 2007. Every year, thousands of visitors experience the Grand Canyon and its majestic views from the Skywalk. The Skywalk is 10 feet wide with glass walls that extend 4 to 6 feet above the glass floor to ensure the safety of visitors. The entire structure is considered to be a marvelous feat of engineering and cost about $30 million to construct.
