What are grasshopper palps?
By Forinfos - 28/11/2025 - 0 comments
Grasshopper palps are long, protruding, segmented mouth parts that are located under the jaw. They are used to grab onto and hold food and guide it into the mouth.
The head of the grasshopper consists of compound eyes, two antennae, the jaw and the palps. The jaw is used to crush food that is held by the palps. The other main body parts include the thorax and the abdomen, like other insects. Grasshoppers are herbivores, so they only eat plant material. Their favorite foods are grasses, corn, alfalfa, wheat and barley. Grasshoppers can grow to be nearly 5 inches long and are shades of green and brown.
