Is Greenland a country?
By Forinfos - 23/03/2026 - 0 comments
Greenland is not a country in its own right. It is an independent territory of Denmark that has some self-governing capability, but Greenland depends on Denmark for trade, currency and association with the European Union. Geographically, Greenland is a large, mostly ice-covered island in the North Atlantic Ocean.
Greenland is technically part of North America. However, its dependence on Denmark means that Greenland is often regarded as part of Europe despite its geographic location. Greenland is considered a special overseas territory in the European Union. Though it is not a full member, Greenland has special fishing privileges and other benefits over non-member countries and territories.
