Where do grizzly bears live?

Grizzly bears live in Asia, Russia, Europe, North America and Scandinavia. They live in habitats such as alpine meadows, woodlands, prairies and forests, preferring riparian areas that are close to streams and rivers.

Grizzly bears spend much their time eating and storing fat so that they can hibernate and survive in their dens throughout the winter. Grizzly bears construct their dens towards the end of fall or when winter begins. A grizzly bear will dig its den into the side of a hill or on the ground and may remain there for as long as seven months. Pregnant female grizzly bears and females with cubs begin hibernation in the fall, while single males go into hibernation last.
