How do you ground yourself?

To properly ground yourself, you should work in a non-carpeted area and remove all sources of static electricity from your surroundings. Electrical devices should be unplugged.

1. Unplug all electrical devices

   If you are working on a computer or other electrical device, be sure that it is unplugged.

2. Remove all sources of static electricity

   Clear your working space of all sources of static electricity. This includes rolling desk chairs, plastic items and, even, cats.

3. Remove carpet from the floor

   Remove carpeting and rugs from work area. If the room you are working in has wall-to-wall carpet, relocate your work area to a room with wood or tiled floors.
