The Gulf Coast toad is a medium-sized amphibian that grows to more than 4 inches. The toad has protruding eyes and dark stripes that run down the body.
The color patterns of Gulf Coast toads can vary, but most of them have dark coloring. Others may be yellow, pale green or grey in color. They have prominent ridges from the nose to the back portion of the head. Gulf Coast toads can be found in Mexico, Central America and the southern part of the United States. They live in a variety of habitats, including forests, grasslands and suburban areas. They are carnivores that eat just about any arthropod they can swallow.
