"Where There Is No Doctor" is a manual intended for health care workers in remote areas with little to no medical infrastructure, such as developing countries. It is believed to be the most widely used health care manual in the world.
The manual is available in over 75 languages and covers diagnosis and treatment of common diseases. It focuses heavily on disease prevention, nutrition and treating infections to prevent further health problems. It is authored by David Werner, Jane Maxwell and Carol Thuman and is published by the Hesperian Foundation. The World Health Organization and UNICEF carry the book in their field offices.
