Burdines was rebranded by its parent company as Macy's in 2005. As of April 2015, a number of former Burdines locations retain their unique beach-themed decor.
Burdines was a retail chain that operated in Florida from 1896 to 2004, when it became Burdines-Macy's. The Burdines name was dropped entirely from all locations in 2005. Federated Department Stores Incorporated, which had been the parent company of Burdines since 1956, renamed its subsidiary stores when it became Macy's Inc.
The Burdines stores were known for pink walls, sky-blue ceilings and palm trees on the sales floor, elements that have been retained at some of the Macy's locations in Florida.
