What happens when glaciers melt?
By Forinfos - 22/06/2025 - 0 comments
When glaciers melt, the sea level rises as more water is added to the oceans. Due to global warming, the world's glaciers have been melting at an accelerated rate for around 50 years.
Glaciers can be found around the mountains of Asia and Europe, in Alaska and in other parts of the world. As global warming increases, the glaciers in these areas melt faster. As long as temperatures around the world keep rising, the glaciers will continue to melt, causing sea levels to continue rising as well. This could be catastrophic for coastal areas as flooding occurs. Low-lying areas such as those in Venice, Italy could someday be completely underwater.
