What is haptic feedback?

Haptic technology, also known as haptics, is a tactile feedback technology that recreates the feeling of touch by applying forces and vibrations to the user's hand or fingers. This technology is most commonly used in smartphones and tablets to give feedback to the user upon prompting an action.
Haptic devices use tactile sensors that are integrated into the device to sense the force of touches from the user. The technology eases the creation and control of virtual objects and enhances the remote control of machines and devices. The name comes from the Greek word "haptikos," which means "pertaining to the sense of touch."
