What is an HDMI pinout diagram?

By Forinfos - 06/05/2026 - 0 comments

An HDMI pinout diagram is a visual that differentiates and defines each piece of an HDMI cable configuration. This includes each pin, wire and signal that is used with the connection.

The majority of the pins in an HDMI diagram deal with its encoding technology. Transmission minimized differential signaling, or TMDS, takes up 12 of the 19 pins on a standard HDMI cable. Although the pin locations and functions do not change among standard HDMI cables, there is more than one type of HDMI cable available, such as miniature 32-pin HDMI connectors. HDMI pinout diagrams are used as references to repair HDMI cables, produce new cables or create conversion cables, such as HDMI-to-DVI cables.
