A woman cannot ovulate after menopause, according to Everyday Health. Menopause is defined by a cessation of ovulation. However, a woman can still ovulate until menopause is complete.
It becomes more and more difficult to get pregnant during the perimenopausal time period, explains Everyday Health. As menopause approaches and begins, the female body slows and then stops egg producttion.
Symptoms often associated with menopause, such as depression and lack of sex drive, are actually due to a woman's natural aging process, says Everyday Health. Age causes a drop in exercise, sexual activity and vitamin intake. These losses contribute to the negative side-effects normally attributed to menopause.
