Tax professionals teach the in-person tax preparation courses. Students who choose the classroom option can also access the online training. Topics covered in the training include tax filing requirements; exemptions and dependents; standard deductions and itemized deductions; capital gains and losses; and electronic tax return filing. Students can receive up to 3.5 college credits from the University of Phoenix for their participation in the Basic Tax Preparation Course, as of July 2015.
