Where was the home of the Crow tribe?

The Crow tribe originally resided in the Yellowstone River Valley, which encompasses parts of modern-day Montana, Wyoming and North Dakota. Today, the Crow reservation is located in southern Montana, near the northern border of Wyoming.

Throughout the centuries, the original homeland of the Crow tribe varied as the Crow, Cheyenne and Lakota Sioux tribes competed for territory in the region.

Today, the Crow Indian Reservation is the largest reservation in Montana. It encompasses nearly 2.2 million acres. About 7,900 people reside in the reservation, although the total membership enrollment of the Crow tribe is 11,000. The headquarters of the tribe is in Crow Agency, Montana.
