Born on November 6, 1494, Suleiman the Magnificent doubled the size of the Ottoman Empire during his rule. While Suleiman was sultan, the Ottomans captured Belgrade, Rhodes, Hungary, Buda and Transylvania, and they unsuccessfully tried to besiege Vienna, Austria.
