An immediate result of the European age of exploration was the increase of European influence to both North America and South America. This spread occurred due to the movements of explorers, military units and colonists from Europe to the lands in the Western Hemisphere.
As the exposure to Europeans by indigenous peoples increased, European languages, religious beliefs, customs and cultural practices spread through the two continents. Another immediate result of the European age of exploration includes the claiming of lands by European monarchs and governments. Ultimately, the results included the colonization of newly discovered lands and the establishment of trade routes.
