What is a 100 pesos V. Carranza coin?

Mexican 100 pesos (100 MXP) coins with the portrait of Venustiano Carranza are made with an aluminum-bronze alloy. They weigh 11.8 grams and measure 26.63 millimeters in diameter. Each coin is typically worth less than $1.

These coins were issued in several series during the years of 1984 to 1992. As of 2014, they are no longer legal tender. On the obverse side of the coin, there is a depiction of Mexico's National Arms and an inscription above it.

Venustiano Carranza was one of the leaders of the Mexican Revolution of 1910. He became president in 1917, and was assassinated 2 years later while trying to flee with stolen national funds.
