When do people celebrate Little Christmas?

Little Christmas is an Irish holiday celebrated on Jan. 6, the feast of the Epiphany, according to Irish Examiner. It marks the end of the Christmas season. On this day, the Christmas tree and other decorations are taken down and stored for the following year.

The celebration is also called Women's Little Christmas, or Nollaig na mBan, because it is a traditional day of rest for women following the hectic holiday season, reports Daily Edge. As of 2015, the celebration is dying out in many parts of Ireland due to perceptions that it perpetuates antiquated gender roles. Traditionally, women visit with friends and do not cook meals for their families on Little Christmas day.
