How do you open a jar?

There are many different methods used to open the lid of a jar. Using a combination of these methods in a step-by-step process, including running the lid under water and using a towel to get a stronger grip is the easiest way to get the jar open.

1. Break the seal

   Gently strike the edge of the lid against the counter top, then run the lid under hot water to break the seal and dissolve any liquid holding the lid to the jar.

2. Get a better grip

   Use a towel or a thick rubber band in order to get a better grip on the jar lid before turning it counter-clockwise to open it.

3. Poke a hole in the lid

   The pressure inside of the jar is holding the lid to the jar like a vacuum. Poke a hole in the lid in order to release the pressure and make the jar easier to open.
