Are all home lease agreements binding?

Home lease agreements are legally binding contracts. Breaking a lease or not paying the amount owed to a landlord in the time agreed to in a lease agreement is likely to end in a court case. Unless the renter has a valid legal defense, the landlord often wins.

Strategies that may allow a person to break a lease without consequence include demonstrating breach of contract if the landlord has not fulfilled their obligations under the lease agreement; looking for an early termination clause in the lease agreement; or begging for mercy. These methods won't always work, however. Paying the lease balance off, either in a lump sum amount or in a certain time frame, is a likely result.
