What was the Home Life Insurance Company?

Home Life Insurance Company was an insurer established in 1860 in Brooklyn, New York, as noted by The Phoenix Companies. It was the first insurance company authorized to conduct business in New York by the New York Insurance Department. It merged with Phoenix Insurance in 1992 under the name Phoenix Home Life Mutual Insurance Company.

Home Life Insurance Company saw its business grow by 60 percent in the 1930s, notes The Phoenix Companies. This was due in part to the creation of the marketing program "Planned Estates" that has agent acting as financial advisers. As part of the Phoenix Companies, Home Life is headquartered in Hartford, Connecticut as of June 2015.
