Is there a homemade weed killer?

White distilled vinegar works as a homemade weed killer. Within just a few hours of application, the weed starts to die. The acetic acid in the vinegar burns the weeds foliage and lowers the pH in the soil temporarily.

White distilled vinegar can be applied straight on a weed to kill it. It can also be mixed with a bit of dish soap and salt to make it more potent and help it stick. Simply mix 2 cups of vinegar, 1/2 cup of table salt and 1 teaspoon of salt. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle and apply on weeds. Vinegar is not selective and kills any green plant it is applied to.
