Where is a horse in the food chain?

Wolves, mountain lions, coyotes, foxes, and grizzly bears are the natural predators of horses, though most horses are domesticated and live well-protected. Horses aren't easy prey because they are fast runners. Horses are herbivores and subsist on plants, grasses, fruits, and vegetables, such as oats, hay, and corn.

Horses sleep standing up in order to avoid becoming prey. In the wild, horses live in large herds to help keep away predators. In some instances, horses fall prey to human predators. People in Belgium, Kazahkstan, Germany, Japan, Mexico, Switzerland, Poland, China, and Indonesia eat horse just as readily as Americans and Britons eat beef.
