How hot is Saturn?

The average temperature of Saturn is minus 288 degrees Fahrenheit, which is minus 178 degrees Celsius. However, this is an inaccurate measure of the temperature conditions on the planet, because the temperatures in the atmosphere differ greatly from the temperatures near the core.
Saturn has three layers of gaseous clouds in its atmosphere. In the outer layer, comprised mostly of ammonia ice, temperatures can be between minus 280 and minus 170 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 173 to minus 113 degrees Celsius). The middle layer of water ice can range from minus 127 to 26 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 88 to minus 3 degrees Celsius). The lower layers of clouds can reach 134 degrees Fahrenheit (57 degrees Celsius).
