What is a hot start on a dirt bike?
By Forinfos - 05/12/2025 - 0 comments
A hot start is performed using the hot start lever in combination with a kickstart to immediately start the engine of a four-stroke motorbike. A hot start is performed when the bike stalls or crashes mid-course.
The hot start feature puts a greater amount of air into the pilot circuit to restart the engine. It is used when the bike's engine is already hot. Hot start systems connect directly to the carburetor and were previously directly on the engine. Today, hot start systems are generally mounted on the handlebars, giving riders quick access to restart a stalled engine following a stop.
