Where do husky dogs live?

Husky dogs, originally used as sled dogs in northern Alaska, have a double layer of thick fur and prefer to live outdoors and in colder climates. Huskies are domesticated ancestors of the wolf and are popular as pets.

The word "husky" refers to dogs kept by the Arctic Inuit people and is a form of the word Eskimos, or Huskimos as it was pronounced by the English sailors in the 1800s. The gray, black, white or copper thick fur coat of the huskies make them an ideal sled dog in the northern Arctic regions where they originate. Husky dogs prefer living in cooler climates and are most content outdoors.
